About Nashlem

Welcome to Nashlem Homestay — where comfort meets culture in the heart of Meghalaya.

Nestled in the serene village of Mawngap Mawkharshiing in the East Khasi Hills, Nashlem Homestay offers a perfect blend of comfort, culture, and nature. Founded by a passionate Tourism and Hospitality graduate, this homestay is a heartfelt initiative to promote village tourism while preserving and showcasing the rich Khasi lifestyle, traditions, and culture.

The name “Nashlem” comes from the Khasi language, meaning “from home.” True to its name, Nashlem provides a warm and welcoming home away from home experience, where every guest is treated with genuine care and hospitality. Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of Shillong, famously known as the Scotland of the East, Nashlem invites you to unwind, reconnect with nature, and immerse yourself in serene landscapes, fresh mountain air, and peaceful village life.

Discover Mawngap

Mawngap Mawkharshiing is one of the most beautiful villages in the East Khasi Hills, blessed with breathtaking landscapes and peaceful surroundings. Located just a short distance from the scenic Mawphlang Dam, the village offers a refreshing escape into nature.

The area is well-connected and conveniently surrounded by schools, colleges, and a Community Health Centre, ensuring a comfortable and safe stay for visitors.

Local Life & Culture

A highlight of Mawngap is its vibrant traditional village market, known as the “Haat,” held twice a week. This lively market offers a wide variety of local products, including fresh meat, organic vegetables, clothing, traditional Khasi cuisine, and beautifully handcrafted bamboo items.

Guests can explore this unique marketplace, interact with local vendors, and take home authentic souvenirs—creating lasting memories of their stay.
